چکیده

~ince the Co.de Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system was proposed for the next generation of mobile communications, several multiuser detection· methods have been develope? to cope with the Multi-Access Interference inherent in the CDMA system. Fading and. multIpath ch~acteristi~sof the mobile radio channel present significant challenges to the designer of multiuser receivers. The fading phenomenon prevents the traditional Phase-Lock Loop (PLL) carrier recovery, so for the coherent detection, more accurate channel estimation is required. In this paper, we consider only frequency non-selective fading channels. Removing the usual assumption that the channel coefficients are perfectly known to the receiver, we model the fading channel as a second order Auto-Regressive (AR) process, and use the decision-directed Kalman filter to estimate the channel coefficients. The effect of estimation errors on the performance of several multiuser detectors is investigated by analysis and simulations. Issues concerning the implementation of the Kalman filter are also addressed.

Joint Map Detection and Channel Estimation for Cdma over Frequency-selective Fading Channels

This paper presents a centralized multiuser maximum a posteriori (MAP) detector for code division multiple access (CDMA) signals on frequency-selective fast-fading channels. Importantly, the algorithm does not assume perfect channel state information at the receiver. The key idea is to expand the hypothesis trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization for all users. Usin...

BEM-based multiuser detection for synchronous DS-CDMA systems over frequency flat fading channels

In this paper a soft-in soft-output (SISO) multiuser detection algorithm for synchronous direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems operating over a slow Rayleigh fading channel is illustrated. Its derivation is based on the Bayesian Expectation Maximization (BEM) technique. The proposed detector estimates the fading channel in an iterative fashion and produces the a poster...

Iterative Multiuser Decoding of Narrowband Signals in Fading Channels

In this paper we investigate multiuser detection techniques for coded narrowband signals in fading channels. In [1], Moher proposed a suboptimal multiuser detector and its performance is demonstrated for the AWGN channel. In this paper, this multiuser detector is modified for fading channels, such as the Rayleigh fading channel model. The fading channels described and simulated are flat narrowb...

Multiuser detection and channel estimation algorithms for M-ary DS-CDMA systems in multipath Rayleigh fading channels

In this paper, we present different linear and nonlinear iterative data detection schemes for the asynchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems employing orthogonal signalling formats and long scrambling codes. Compared to the conventional receiver and other noncoherent multiuser detectors, coherent multiuser detection schemes achieve much better performance provi...
